Our Patented Logo Process
Come with Alphabet Arm on a fun-filled journey from concept to completion of a brand new, custom-built identity.
Our clients are the first step of our creative process (makes sense, doesn’t it?). After all, we’re developing their new identity. We begin with a detailed conversation with them to help us establish the visual parameters for each particular project. We focus on their industry, target demographic and desired visual direction. Quite often, clients will peruse our portfolio for existing logos that may be applicable to their brand.
Then we go back to our secret design lab and begin our process with extensive research. We immerse ourselves in the client’s industry and start brainstorming. At this point, we will often drink a little coffee?…?okay a lot of coffee (that’s our favorite part).
For the next step, we employ the tried-and-true method of putting pencil to paper and developing a range of unique, original concepts. During the sketching process, we’ll note plenty of ideas regarding type treatments and graphic elements to explore.
Following an in-studio critique, we take the best of our sketches and begin building them in a digital format, revising, modifying and refining the strongest of the concepts. Our logo work is done exclusively in vector based applications which allows us to develop identities that are infinitely scalable and transfer seamlessly to a wide range of media. We then post the initial round of logo treatments for our clients on a private web page.
As challenging as it may be, it becomes our client’s task to narrow the field to one defined direction. In some instances, there may be a graphic element from one of the concepts and a type treatment from another that would also work well as a final direction. We then put the finishing touches on the new—soon to be the envy of their friends and professional colleagues—identity.
Finally, we choose a dynamic color palette to compliment the final logo—one that helps define our client’s brand and set them apart from the competition. As part of our logo design service, we also build a master archive for their records and personal use. Some of our clients require a more elaborate brand standards guide, that includes usage guidelines, type specifications, and brand recommendations.
Once the identity is finalized, we help to flesh out your brand with a complete office system. This system includes business cards, letterhead, envelopes, and any other printed piece that represents the new identity. We’re always happy to work with clients on other aspects of their brand as well, including signage, marketing collateral, merchandise and while we’re principally a print company, we often consult with clients regarding their web presence.
